It explores the fragile, often invisible threads that bind families together—love, fear, responsibility, resentment—and the ways in which mental illness reshapes each of them.

But this book is not just about suffering. It is also a victory carved against all odds. Not only has Shubha survived, she has done well for herself. She has worked in the biggest and best advertising agencies in India, written three books and worked as a mental health campaigner. She is a mother, a wife, a bibliotherapist and a practicing Buddhist.

With Traitor In The House, she hopes that talking about bipolar disorder will help remove the fear and stigma around it. Bipolar disorder is an illness, not a crime. She would like to encourage others like her, encouraging them with her story, generating hope and standing shoulder to shoulder with them.
